Can I mix Artkal, Perler, and Hama beads in the same project?
Yes โ the standard 5 mm beads from all three brands are cross-compatible on the same board. They're close enough in size that mixing them works fine for most projects. Colors won't be identical across brands though, so try not to mix the "same" color from two brands in adjacent areas.
Which brand does Kandiverse support?
Kandiverse can generate patterns matched to Perler, Artkal, and Hama color palettes. When you generate a pattern, you can choose which brand's colors to match. The pattern will show bead codes (e.g. Perler #17, Artkal R01) so you know exactly which beads to buy.
Does the brand affect ironing time?
Yes. Perler melts the fastest โ it can fuse in 10โ15 seconds per side on medium iron heat. Artkal needs a bit longer (15โ25 seconds) because of the denser bead material. Hama falls in the middle. Always use ironing paper and test on a small patch before committing.
Which brand has the most colors?
Artkal by a wide margin โ 225 colors in the 5mm midi series alone, versus 100+ for Perler, 66 for Hama Midi, and 168 for Mard mini. If color variety matters for your project (realistic portraits, gradient effects), Artkal is the clear winner.
